On July 19, 2015, at 2:48 am, police heard shots fired and responded to the area of 1547 S. 7th Street. Officers observed a shirtless black, male, medium complexion, having shoulder length dreadlocks, shooting at a black Dodge Challenger. After the shots were fired, the suspect then ran to a Grey, Chevy Trailblazer and entered the passenger side of the vehicle. The suspects then fled south on Broadway. The victim’s Challenger struck several parked cars before finally coming to rest against the police car. The officers observed the victim, Shelby Polk III, slumped in the driver’s seat bleeding from apparent gun shot wounds. Police tried to render aid, however the victim later died of his injuries.
