On Saturday, June 24, 2017 at approximately 11:34 PM the Berkeley Police Department responded to the 8200 block of Fay Avenue in reference to a “subject down”. Upon arrival officers observed an unknown black male subject lying in the street face down.
Initial investigation revealed the subject was an apparent victim of gunshot wounds. Berkeley Fire Department and Paramedics responded and the victim was conveyed to an area hospital by EMS. Shortly after the victim arrived at the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries. The scene was secured and released to the Berkeley Bureau of Investigations. It is believed that the victim was robbed which subsequently escalated into gunfire.
The victim is identified as Natious Neal, 18 years of age. The victim was a Berkeley resident who resided in the 6100 block of Jefferson Avenue.
