On Wednesday, January 11, 2017, the victim Maulik Patel was stopped in traffic, on northbound Goodfellow, at I-70, he and several other drivers were waiting on the traffic light to cycle, when several unknown suspects occupying a four door vehicle drove into the southbound traffic and began shooting at the victim while he was seated inside his vehicle. The victim exited his vehicle and was then shot outside of his vehicle. The suspects left the scene in a newer model vehicle with tinted windows. The victim died of multiple gunshot wounds.
