On May 8 2009, Michael Goulbourne was working alongside his father at his family’s food stand located at 1206 N. Kingshighway. At 8:21pm, as the business was closing for the day, two to three unknown black male suspects approached the victim’s and announced a robbery. Despite the victim’s handing over jewelry and cash, the suspects fired several shots before fleeing in an unknown type of vehicle. The 50 year old employee was injured by the gunfire, and 14 year old Michael was killed. Michael was an 8th grader at Normandy Middle School who was active in the Safety Patrol, school band and track team. He dreamed of becoming an entrepreneur like his father.
